Isabelle Fontana
Isabelle Fontana, sports shop manageress
I did my apprenticeship with Jacky Peretten in his shop in Les Diablerets, quite a long time ago. I adore contact with people, advising them and giving them the benefit of my knowledge.
After my apprenticeship I left for England, because here in Les Diablerets we have important English-speaking clients. When I returned I divided my time betwen intensive volleyball training and working in shops as a sales assistant wherever my team happened to be based : Leysin, Montreux, Cheseaux and Basel. After several years of competing in volleyball at international level, I applied myself to beach-volley. My teammate and I hoped to be selected for the Olympic Games in Sydney. We tried, but didn’t make it.
So, you used to play at a very high level !
When I returned to Les Diablerets in 1995, I needed a new challange and I became Number 2 to Michel Peretten, who had taken over the Jacky Sports shop upon the death of his father. I look after sales of all winter sports clothes and equipment. What interests me is the overall functioning of the shop, the office, purchasing, sales and especially contact with customers and being able fo advise them on sports items with which I’m familiar, having tested them.
I have also obtained my qualification for tennis-teaching. It’s a sport which I love to teach.
Whether it’s in the shop or on the tennis-court, I get to know lots of different people and that’s fulfilling.
I love this relationship of trust which I have with my clients.
